Before Picking Up Your Puppy

You will need a food and water bowl, medium puppy collar, leash, medium puppy chest harness,  wire crate with an adjustable divider (optional), and lots of love :)

The puppy food you will need to order is: Life's Abundance All Life Stages. Please click HERE to order.

The puppies have been enjoying Life's Abundance All Life Stages dog food and we found it to be the best food on the market without a single recall! We strongly encourage you to use Life's Abundance dog food for the whole life of the puppy/dog (We came to understand this from many years of research and experience)! Feed it dry. Feeding schedule is 30 minute segments 2x per day of all he/she can eat. This will create proper bathroom routine.  At 5 months of age switch over to the recommended dose per day as stated in the instructions on the bag.

A puppy at 2 months old usually pees every 2-3 hours, after meals, and sometimes when it wakes up in the morning. Always take the puppy to the designated bathroom area first thing in the morning, throughout the day, and right before bedtime! Use every opportunity to train and reward the puppy. Please never give the puppy too many treats at one time!  Would you as a person eat 10 Candy bars at one time? I hope not, but maybe that's a personal question :). Here is a way to have a small amount of treats go a long way: break off tiny pieces as you train and reward. It's the taste, not the amount!

Discipline with a puppy is very important! You will have a lot of fun with the puppy but always integrate training into the time you spend with your new friend. Sometimes you might get frustrated, but never yell or hit, they will not understand! Rather, learn to use a firmly said "NO"  etc. Puppies learn the best by being praised and rewarded for their good actions. The discipline now will pay you back many times over later. When you walk down the street with your dog on the leash and a person passes you, then you stop and turn around to realize that the person you passed did the same thing (turn his head back to take a second look at your trained pup)! With a smile on your face you will remember that Mike was right :)

Please don't forget to order NuVet Plus K-9 Wafers :)

The puppies are microchipped. The microchip is located between the shoulders and the neck area under the skin.  The information on where to register the chip to your name will come with all the paperwork. Your vet will scan the puppy to verify the number and exact location of the microchip. Vaccination record will come with the puppy. A dewormer that you could use is Safe Guard or whatever your vet recommends.

A great shampoo to use is Life's Abundance puppy/dog shampoo (Absolutely the best shampoo on the market). When washing the puppy do not get the water and shampoo into the mouth and eyes. Do not wash the puppy more than once a week unless it’s very necessary because the coat has naturally occurring oil that has to replenish itself after a bath. Just a water bath/shower is perfectly fine any time for a puppy as much as needed.

Much more could be said, but this is a start.
